About birth control

  • Options may include birth control pills, rings, patches and the birth control shot. These options and your preferences will be discussed during your visit. For example, some women may want an option that also helps manage hormonal acne while others may want an option that is easy to remember.

  • Your provider will need to know your health history and what medications you are on. Some birth control options can affect your blood pressure so having a blood pressure reading from the previous 12 months will be helpful. To get an up-to-date blood pressure reading, you can visit your local pharmacy, local primary care clinic or use a home blood pressure monitor.

  • No. If you are concerned about having a sexually transmitted infection, you may discuss this with your healthcare provider. At times, depending on the symptoms and your assessment, your healthcare provider will recommend that you see a local clinic for an in-person evaluation. This is to ensure your safety as there are limitations to telehealth.

  • Yes you can request a prescription for emergency contraception. Prescriptions are subject to a consultation with your healthcare provider.
