Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully. They contain important information regarding your legal rights and obligations as they pertain to the use of this website and to receiving healthcare services from Original Remedy. By using any portion of the website, platform/messaging services with your provider, you are agreeing that you have read, understood and unconditionally agree to be bound by the terms and conditions outlined below. If you do not accept to be bound by this agreement, please leave the website and discontinue your use or access of any service offered by Original Remedy.

Original Remedy Terms of Use (User Agreement)


These Terms of Service (the “Terms and Conditions”) form a legally binding agreement between you (“user”, “you”, “your, “patient”, etc.) and
Original Remedy (“Original Remedy”, “us”, “ours”, “we”, etc.) with respect to your access of our healthcare services, website and patient care platform. The Original Remedy Privacy Statement is also incorporated by reference into, and accordingly is part of these Terms of Service, and collectively form our agreement (“Agreement”).

Original Remedy reserves the right to amend the terms of this Agreement and our Services at any time. The latest version will be posted on Original Remedy with the date these Terms were last revised. You are responsible for regularly reviewing this agreement. By using the Original Remedy website, platform or participating in our services after the amendment of these Terms, you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the amended Terms.

Not a Replacement for In Person Primary Care

Healthcare Services provided by Original Remedy do not take the place of appointments with your regular in person primary care provider. We encourage you to find an in person primary provider if you do not have one at this time. 

1. About Original Remedy

Original Remedy connects individuals/patients to a secure patient/healthcare provider platform that may include messaging and video telemedicine delivered in both an asynchronous and a synchronous manner. Our healthcare services connect patients and providers for non-emergency medical related matters (collectively, the “Services”). 

a) Benefits of Telemedicine

  • Improved access to care by allowing you to remain at home where your provider assesses you.

  • Obtaining referrals to a specialist of appropriate

  • More efficient care evaluation and management.

  • The ability to reach your provider directly through secure messaging and starting a consultation as needed. 

b) Limitations of Telemedicine

  • The inability of the physician to have direct physical contact and unable to complete a full physical exam on the patient. As such, some clinical symptoms/concerns may not be appropriate for a telemedicine visit and your provider will make that assessment. 

  • Our platform cannot be used for emergency services. Please do not attempt to message your provider for an emergency related concern. 

c) Risks of Telemedicine

  • Delays in evaluation or treatment due to failures in technology or provider availability.

  • The information relayed by the patient to the provider is incomplete or of inadequate quality resulting in adverse drug reactions, judgment errors and/or necessitating an in person visit with a local physician.

  • In very rare events, security protocols could fail, resulting in a breach in privacy.

2. Privacy Statement

You must review our Privacy Statement linked here prior to agreeing to these Terms of Service.

3. Term

The terms of this agreement will commence on the date you first use the services or create a User/patient account to use these services and continue until terminated in accordance with the provisions of this agreement.

4. Eligibility and Discretion

Certain patients may not be eligible to use the services or access healthcare providers offering healthcare services for Original Remedy. Medical professionals may and have the right to refuse service to certain patients for any reason. In addition, the medical professional may determine that the healthcare service or request for service is not amenable to patient care via telemedicine and may determine that a patient should be treated in person at a clinic, hospital or emergency room. Also the medical professional may determine that certain treatments, Original Remedy

Medical healthcare professionals are utterly and solely responsible in determining which patients and for what healthcare related concerns shall be treated via the service and in so doing determine which patients or which healthcare concerns or requests will be accepted or refused treatment. 

5. User Account and Information

You are completely and solely responsible for your account, and the healthcare and personal information that you provide when accessing and using services by Original Remedy. The user is obliged to provide this such data and personal information in an accurate and complete manner as it is reasonable to expect that Original Remedy and the healthcare provider may rely on this information for the user’s care. 

You also promise to Original Remedy the following: 

  • you and any legal dependents meet the Residency Requirements at the point in time that you request healthcare services from Original Remedy.

  • you will use the Original Remedy Platform solely for your personal and non-commercial use.

  • You will not request health services for users who are not legal dependents. 

  • refrain from using abusive language or inappropriate conduct when communicating with anyone through the Original Remedy Platform.

  • Unless otherwise permitted, you may only have one Original Remedy Account.

6. Security of your Account

Original Remedy has taken every reasonable step to ensure the security of its systems and uses only HIPAA protected platforms and electronic health record systems. However, there are inherent risks to the use of electronic means of communication and with the use of telemedicine services both over messaging or through video consults. There is a possibility that information could be unlawfully observed by a third party while data is being transmitted over the internet or maintained on a cloud based server. Original Remedy accepts no liability that may arise if any other persons obtains any information you may submit to the services. 

Furthermore, you are completely responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of your password when using the patient/provider messaging platform. You agree to prevent unauthorized access to this platform and agree to notify us promptly of any and all unauthorized use.

In addition, the user will not provide, transmit, post any data, material, or content that infringes or violates any intellectual property rights, public/privacy right or other rights of any third party, or any law or regulation. The user will not covertly intercept or seize any system, data or personal information or use programming that contains any viruses for the intent to damage. 

Original Remedy may take any remedial action if your account or any actions by the user violates this agreement. 

7. Accuracy of Content

Although Original Remedy takes all possible steps to ensure the content and accuracy of the information on our website, we do not give any assurance that the content is up to date, error free or complete. Original Remedy reserves the right to change or update information at any time without prior notice. The information or content on the Original Remedy website or platform does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, assessment, treatment, or guarantee that any particular medication will be prescribed, is safe, effective or an appropriate treatment for you. Prescription medications will be provided at the discretion of the physician. Any information on the website is strictly for informational purposes. 


8. Linking

Original Remedy may offer links on our website, third party sites including pharmacies, government and patient care resources which are operated and owned by third parties. We are not responsible for any content, product or services, advertising or any other information made available by these third party sites. 

9. Platform and Services

The healthcare services offered by Original Remedy allows registered users to access telehealth services provided by licensed healthcare providers registered to practice in a province or territory of Canada. Telehealth is healthcare delivered through synchronous or asynchronous messaging, audio and/or video technology, where the patient and the healthcare provider are not in the same physical location. The healthcare services offered by Original Remedy allows Users to store personal health information (collectively “PHI”), and to share this information with licensed healthcare providers. Information may include photo identification, prescriptions, patient photos, sick notes and other documents. 

The services provided by Original Remedy are optional at the user’s direction. Services can include Original Remedy securely faxing a summary of the user’s consultations to another healthcare provider of the User’s choice and (although not limited to) securely faxing prescriptions to the user’s pharmacy of choice.

The user/healthcare provider messaging platform is operated by Practice Q/Intake Q. Original Remedy has a contractual agreement to offer their platform to its users. Practice Q is a practice management software that is HIPAA and PIPEDA compliant. Contractual agreements have been made by Original Remedy with Practice Q in order to offer this platform to the users of Original Remedy. The terms set forth by Practice Q can be found here under TERMS and its Privacy Policy found here under POLICY. Agreeing to the terms set forth by Original Remedy includes an agreement to the Terms and Privacy set forth by Practice Q. 

10. Eligibility

In order to open an account to use the Original Remedy platform, you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age

  • or have parent/guardian consent/approval through linkage of parental accounts with the minor (minor defined as <18 years of age).

Parents/guardians are required to create a separate profile for each individual for whom they have the legal right to make healthcare decisions. 

The use of services offered by Original Remedy are not permitted by minors (those under the age of 18) without the consent and linking to a parent/guardian account. The information the guardian provides regarding the minor receiving care may be used for diagnosis, ordering testing (labs or imaging), treatment recommendations, or specialist referrals. These services may be rendered using messaging services through the secure patient portal, images, audio or video. 

Responsibility for overall medical care should remain with a local primary care provider if the patient has one and we strongly encourage this route if it is an option.

Nothing in these terms requires Original Remedy to accept any registrant as a User and Original Remedy reserves the right to decline the user for care at the discretion of the licensed healthcare provider. 

Users may possess only one user account. 

11. Healthcare Services Terms of Use

As a term and condition of receiving Healthcare Services from Original Remedy, you (patient or responsible guardian to any legal dependents receiving care) ACKNOWLEDGE, AGREE TO AND UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING.

  1. The Original Remedy Platform provides telehealth services from Licensed Healthcare Providers to Users (and any legal dependents). 

  2. Authorized Healthcare Providers are not employees of Original Remedy or otherwise acting on behalf of Original Remedy. They are independent contractors that utilize the platform to provide healthcare services to your and your legal dependents. The relationship between you and a Healthcare Provider providing you Healthcare Services is a health professional-patient relationship to which Original Remedy is not a party.

  3. Licensed Healthcare Providers are independently responsible for the care they provide and the services they provide to you. This includes their professional obligations and compliance with privacy law. 

  4. Similar to other healthcare consultations, results of treatment cannot be guaranteed. The licensed Healthcare provider may determine that health services on the Original Remedy platform are not appropriate for some or all of your needs. Licensed healthcare providers also have at their discretion the right to discontinue healthcare services to users at any time and for any reason. 

  5. It is the User’s responsibility to provide accurate and true information to the healthcare provider in order to provide the User with healthcare services. If Users decline this information, the Licensed Healthcare provider may not be able or may not be willing to provide healthcare services to the User. 

  6. The Original Remedy platform MUST NOT AND CANNOT BE USED FOR EMERGENCY HEALTH SERVICES. IF YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY, CALL 911 OR GO TO YOUR LOCAL EMERGENCY ROOM.

  7. The following symptoms are not eligible to be treated through the Original Remedy platform: shortness of breath, chest pain, stroke-like symptoms, severe abdominal pain, fever in a child less than 1 year. 

  8. There are risks unique to telehealth. The healthcare provider is unable to complete a physical exam and photos uploaded may be affected by poor resolution. As such, telehealth visits do not replace an in person examination of a concern or issue. 

  9. Licensed providers are NOT permitted to prescribe narcotic or controlled medications or medications which may be considered harmful or a potential for abuse. 

  10. Any prescriptions Users acquire from a licensed healthcare provider are only for the personal use of the individual whose name is on the prescription. It is the responsibility of the user to read all product information and labels and to consult with a pharmacist or physician for questions related to the prescription or medication.  

  11. If recommended by a licensed healthcare professional, the user will seek out emergency help. 

  12. You will be charged a visit fee for any uninsured healthcare services you receive from a healthcare provider. The Healthcare Service Fees charged to you are only for uninsured healthcare services.

  13. You may suspend or terminate the use of telemedicine services at any time for any reason or for no reason.

  14. You have alternatives to telemedicine consultation such as in person services.

  15. You understand there is no guarantee that a prescription will be given at all. The decision of whether a prescription will be provided will be made in the professional judgement of the provider.

  16. You understand you can choose to fill your prescription at the pharmacy of your choice.

12. Termination

On notice to you the User, Original Remedy may immediately, at any time and for any reason, terminate your access to the Original Remedy Platform. Original Remedy reserves the right to select the means by which it gives the user a notice of termination. Upon termination, Original Remedy will have no further obligation to provide you with access to the Original Remedy platform, except to the extent that Original Remedy has an obligation to provide you with access to your public health information. The User may also close their account at any time and for any reason. 

13. Ownership (Intellectual Property Rights)

The User’s use of the platform does not give them any right to use Original Remedy’s company name, logo, trademarks or services. Users are not permitted to copy or otherwise modify, create or distribute any content owned by Original Remedy. With the exception of your personal information (including medical records), Original Remedy exclusively owns and retains all right, title and interest in and to the website. 

14. Disclaimer

MESSAGING, VIDEO AND PATIENT PLATFORM OPERATES THROUGH PRACTICE Q/INTAKE Q AND IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” ORIGINAL REMEDY MAKES NO GUARANTEE REGARDING THE RELIABILITY, TIMELINESS, QUALITY, SUITABILITY OR AVAILABILITY OF THE SERVICES REQUESTED THROUGH USE OF THIS PLATFORM.  

THE USER ASSUMES ALL RISK ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF THE SERVICES OFFERED BY ORIGINAL REMEDY. ORIGINAL REMEDY DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE QUALITY OR SAFETY OF HEALTHCARE SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE HEALTHCARE PROVIDER. 

15. Limitation of Liability

  1. ORIGINAL REMEDY, (WHICH IN THIS SECTION N INCLUDES ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, SHAREHOLDERS, AND INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTY CONTRACTORS) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, LIABILITY OR LOSSES ARISING OUT OF: 

    1. THE USER’S USE OF OF THE HEALTHCARE SERVICES PROVIDED BY ORIGINAL REMEDY OR THE USER’S INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE ORIGINAL REMEDY PLATFORM POWERED BY PRACTICE Q/INTAKE Q OR

    2. ANY DELAY IN ATTAINING HEALTHCARE SERVICES OR 

    3. ANY TRANSACTION OR RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOU AND ANY AUTHORIZED PROVIDER.

2. ORIGINAL REMEDY IS NOT LIABLE FOR YOUR INFORMATION STORED OR RECORDED BY ANY COMPUTER, TABLET, MOBILE DEVICE OR ANY NETWORK, WHETHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE, THAT YOU MAY USE TO ACCESS HEALTHCARE SERVICES PROVIDED BY ORIGINAL REMEDY.

3. WITHOUT LIMITING THE GENERALITY OF THE PRECEDING, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE WILL ORIGINAL REMEDY BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT OR ANY DAMAGES, INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE, PERSONAL INJURY, LOST INCOME OR LOST DATA, RELATED TO, IN CONNECTION WITH, OR OTHERWISE RESULTING FROM THE USERS USE OF THE HEALTHCARE SERVICES OFFERED BY ORIGINAL REMEDY.

4. The services offered by Original Remedy strictly allow you to connect online with an independent medical professional.  Any and all advice or care you obtain including the results or lack of results from following such care is the responsibility of you and your medical provider. You understand that the medical professionals that utilize Original Remedy are self regulated and are covered by their own professional practice insurance. You acknowledge and agree that Original Remedy has no liability whatsoever arising under any medical guidance, result or lack of result obtained from any online medical professional.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Original Remedy (which in this Section includes its directors, employees, and healthcare providers) harmless from any and all claims, demands, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising out of or in connection with: 

(i) your use of Healthcare Services obtained through Original Remedy

(ii) your breach or violation of any of these Terms; or 

(iii) your violation of the rights of any third party, including Authorized Providers, other Users, any person on whose behalf you request Healthcare Services, and/or referred friends. 

You shall have no obligation under this section for any claim or action that arises solely and directly out of a material breach of this Agreement by Original Remedy.


17. Fees, Payment Options

  1. Insured Healthcare Services. To access Insured Healthcare Services, you must have a valid provincial health card and number and you must have active coverage for the date you are receiving applicable Healthcare Services. You have a limit of one consultation with an Authorized Provider covered by a Health Plan each calendar day that the Healthcare Service is offered. If the Health Plan deems that you are ineligible for coverage of Healthcare Services, payment of Provider Fees by you may apply. Any Uninsured Healthcare Services delivered in addition to your Insured Healthcare Services will require a payment of Provider Fees, and you may choose to pay using the pay-per-visit or membership options set out below.

  2. Pay-per-visit (pay per concern) option. Original Remedy requires you to submit credit card information prior to the provision of any Healthcare Services for the purpose of validation of the card. You will not be able to begin accessing Healthcare Services with Original Remedy if the credit card information you provide is inaccurate and/or if your credit card is declined at the point of validation. Original Remedy will notify you of any applicable Fees, inclusive of applicable taxes, and will only have the charge processed to your credit card at the initiation of your consultation. Original Remedy will provide you with a receipt for the Fees you pay.

  3. Membership option. Original Remedy allows you to purchase access to certain specified Uninsured Healthcare Services during a fixed membership term for a flat fee (“Membership Fee”). Original Remedy will notify you of the applicable Membership Fee and the Uninsured Healthcare Services that are covered by the Membership Fee and will have the Membership Fee processed to your credit card the first time you obtain Uninsured Healthcare Services under your membership. For access to Uninsured Healthcare Services not covered by your membership, you must pay in accordance with the pay-per-visit-option. Your membership will automatically renew and Original Remedy will accordingly process the monthly payment to your credit card upon renewal, until you cancel your membership by messaging your provider or reaching out to Original Remedy as permitted and in accordance with these Terms. In the event of an increase in the Membership Fee or other material changes to your membership, we will notify you in advance. Your Membership Fee is non-refundable.

  4. Currency, Taxes. All Fees for Uninsured Healthcare Services are in Canadian dollars. Service Fees are inclusive of any applicable taxes based on your billing location.

    17b. Payment Option Disclaimers

    Pay-per-visit (pay per concern) option - Single virtual messaging visits are non-refundable once consultation has begun. You will be charged $49 plus applicable taxes if you choose this payment option. You will have 7 days post visit to message your provider regarding your initial concern. New concerns (assessed at the discretion of your healthcare provider) will be charged as a new single virtual messaging visit, before the new concern is assessed, unless the monthly virtual messaging membership option is elected. 

    Membership option -  Monthly virtual messaging membership begins once your first consultation has begun. You will be charged $79 plus applicable taxes if you choose this payment option. Monthly membership payments are non-refundable and are billed automatically on a monthly basis (on the same numerical date on subsequent months). Monthly membership options cover care for you, your spouse and your legal dependents under the age of 18 living in the same primary residence. You can cancel your membership at any time and you will not be charged for the next billing period. To cancel, please message our team through virtual messaging in your patient portal. You will retain the benefits until the end of the billing period for your chosen membership.  

    Additional remedies - The initial consultation for each specific concern is an additional $49, plus applicable taxes, added to your payment plan. Additional remedies include Hair Growth Treatments, Anti-Aging and General Skincare, Weight Management, Insomnia Management, Travel Medicine and Menopause Management. Members benefit from ongoing support and follow-up. With the single virtual visit option, you’ll have 7 days after your consultation to message your provider regarding your initial concern.

    Original Remedy is safe for non emergent health concerns. If your doctor thinks your condition requires in-person care, they may tell you to go to a clinic for an in person assessment.

    Original Remedy is not intended for medical emergencies. If you believe you are having an emergency, please go to your local emergency room or phone 911.

18. General Provisions

Governing Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein, excluding any conflict of laws that would lead to the application of any other laws. By accessing healthcare services from Original Remedy, you agree that any disputes or matters arising from, connected with, or related to these Terms will be brought to the provincial and federal courts located in the City of Toronto, Ontario.

19.  Waiver of Jury Trial and Class Action Rights

To the extent permitted by law, you agree and understand that, with respect to any dispute with Original Remedy, or its respective directors, employees, agents or representatives arising out of or relating to this Agreement: (i) you hereby give up your right to have a trial by jury; and (ii) you hereby give up your right to participate as a member of a class of claimants, in any lawsuit including but not limited to class action lawsuits involving any such dispute. Furthermore, your rights will be determined by an arbitrator and not a judge or jury. 

20. Consent to the Use of Telemedicine Services

You (patient or responsible guardian to any legal dependents receiving care) consent to the following:

I have read this document carefully and understand risks and benefits of a telemedicine consultation and I hereby give my informed consent to participate in a telemedicine consultation either for myself or as a legal guardian to a minor under the terms described herein.


Non-assignment. These Terms are not assignable, transferable, or to be sub-licensed by you.
Original Remedy may assign, transfer, or delegate any of its rights and obligations hereunder without your consent.

Severability: If any provision in these Terms is held to be invalid, void, or unenforceable, such provision (or the part of it that is making it invalid, void or unenforceable) will be struck and not affect the validity of and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
